During the 2013 Economic Development Association of Canada’s recent conference Kyle White was awarded the Legacy Scholarship. The Legacy Scholarship was established to increase national awareness of the Economic Development Association of Canada and of the economic development profession, and to increase the public’s appreciation of the valuable contributions made by economic development professionals to communities across Canada.

Kyle grew up in Old Perlican, NL and has a passion for enhancing economic development in rural regions. Kyle is a fourth year Honours student in Geography at Memorial University. His Honours thesis research will examine the concept of sustainable or eco-innovation in rural Newfoundland. He is also a recipient of The Hon. Fabian A. O’Dea Scholarship for Excellence in Geography. In addition to excelling in his studies Kyle has worked as a research assistant with Memorial University’s Rural Resilience research team and the Advancing Innovation in NL team. Following the completion of his undergraduate degree Kyle intends to pursue graduate studies in public policy related to economic development and resource management.
